With summer comes longer days and an itch to get away. Summer travel may be the perfect time for a change of routine, but it can have some downsides on your workout routine. Vacation is a perfect time to relax and unwind in a faraway place, but a week-long break from regular workouts can make the post-vacation return to the gym extra challenging. When it comes to reaching your fitness goals, consistency is key.

Jump ropes are a great way to get a full body workout while traveling. It is easy to store, takes up minimal space in your carry on, and a powerful workout that sculpts your shoulders, chest, arms and legs. Start with jumping for 1 minute, resting for 30 seconds for 15 mins. Need an extra challenge? Try increasing your jump time to 2 minutes and adding core exercises after each jump rope set.
Also easy to carry, resistance bands are best used for body weight exercises. Even doing simple exercises like squats or leg lifts with a band can make the movement more difficult while increasing your strength. Try 3 sets of 10 ab curls, toe taps, Russian twists, and leg lowers. Trust me, you will feel the burn.
First of all, safety first. Plan your route ahead of time and avoid uncertain neighborhoods. It’s best to get up early to run as to avoid the summer heat and crowds. Use this workout as an opportunity to explore your surroundings. Break a sweat while finding places you might want to visit later.
Bring your walking shoes
Don’t feel like making time for a workout? Put on your walking shoes! Walking around a new place, exploring what there is to offer is a perfect way to enjoy your vacation and work out without realizing it!
Remember — workouts are great if you can fit them in, but don’t stress about taking a few days off. Your body needs rest to avoid injury and show results.
